I had started really strong but I kinda stopped caring about fashion, maybe because of stuff that happened in my life… I still follow the red-carpet fashion and browse some collections when I’m bored but that’s pretty much all… Here’s the looks I enjoyed for 2010, well starting from the Academy Awards cause that’s when I opened my blog. As I stated in the previous post, this year was all about kpop for me… Here’s the songs I really enjoyed this year.
This year has been marked by a huge discovery for me: Kpop. I’ve entered this word and I don’t think I’ll leave soon… The few albums I’ve tried left me hugely disappointed but I spinned some songs here and there more than anything else this year… So much that I had to divide this concept into two posts… I will use this post to highlight some “western” songs that were also not featured in the my top albums.

I wondered for a long time if I should take the proper time to write/review the last.fm top 40… I didn’t have time (studying for finals) and it looked really boring, with a top 10 almost as disappointing as the one last year. Nikita then told me she skimmed through it and as she’s my most dedicated reader, I was like, why bother?
But I had already started to review almost half of it, so at the end I decided on changing the format and just highlighting what/who’s worth it.

I really enjoyed this album but I don’t really listen to it much anymore… I don’t know if it’s because I’m taking a break or it’s just not such a good album after all. You guys tell me.

4. Erykah Badu - New Amerykah part. 2
This album has more a jazzy/relax feel that the first one but is still very good.
Songs: Out in Mind Just in Time, 20 feet tall
3. Black Milk - Album of the Year
It’s not the AOTY but it still made up to the top while being released only in September. Black Milk didn’t disappoint with its new release.
Songs: Round of Applause, Gospel Psychedelic Rock
2. Laura Marling - I speak because I can
I don’t even know how I found Laura Marling as I’m not a fan of country/folk music. Well let’s change that to I wasn’t a fan, because she made me change my mind. I even tried another favorite of mine this year, Mumfords & Sons, because of her. The album is very raw, her voice very soft and I love the result.
Songs: What he wrote, Alpha Shallows
1. Joanna Newsom - Have one on me (MA.R 1005)
This album is actually a triple album with 18 songs and more than 2 hours of music. It took me a long time to get into it and I actually tried one album at a time. What started as an exploration of an artist whose voice I couldn’t stand at the beginning ended up as my favorite and most listened album of the year. There is no songs I don’t like on it.

Below are some albums that could have made it onto the top too but didn’t for various reasons.
Lee Hyori - H-Logic : A relatively diverse kpop album that got tainted by plagiarism accusations.
J.Cole - A Nigga from the Ville & Friday Night Lights : I was not really at ease putting mixtapes in my top of the year.
Waka Flocka Flame - Flockaveli : Some nice bangers, but not very high quality rap.
M.I.A. - MAYA : Interesting album but lacks the replay value.
Mumfords & Sons - Sigh No More : I can’t get over some of the lyrics.
Daft Punk - Tron Legacy : It’s a new release so maybe there next year?
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening : All the ingredients were there but I didn’t enjoy it so much.
